PKM-1 is an annual moringa cultivar developed at the Horticultural College and Research Institute in Periyakulam, Tamil Nadu, and released in 1989. It was bred for high leaf and pod yield on a short, easily harvested plant that can be grown as an annual field crop rather than a standing tree. PKM-1 remains one of the most widely planted moringa selections for commercial leaf and pod production.
